Day 39

August 4th Friday Day 39

We had to make a tough decision to not ride anymore in Quebec.  I did not give myself enough time for this Province.  It is huge and due to one day of kind of getting lost, we just chose to travel this day so we would be on time for the group waiting for us at the Maine border.

If I do this trip again(Rod wants to turn around now and start heading back to Oregon) I will give myself four more days for Quebec.  The scenery is beautiful and it is VERY desolate.  As I mentioned before, you don’t want to be in this area without a guide or some very good forest maps.  I would want to be able to triangulate my position against my gps coordinates to figure out which way to turn on the unmarked corners.

So that’s it for this boring day.  We traveled to the town of St. George which is close to the border of Maine.  We did go to the border and got permission from the Canadian side and the American side to ride right through the check point.  The trails actually stop a few miles from the border in Quebec and they don’t start until about 10 miles into Maine.  They do have snowmobile trails that cross the border and Maine will have atv trails there by next year according to the Border Riders ATV club.

Hope to see them next year!!! See Ya.
